Previews and talking facts - A look into the sport coming up this week and what has already happened

Updated: Oct 28, 2022

Ryan Reynolds is really going to buy Wrexham AFC? I think if your a Wrexham fan your definitely over the moon by that news.

For football it's great because it just goes to show how much interest that English football holds, but you can't help but wonder why he wants to buy Wrexham.

Wrexham are currently in the National League so you would think that Reynolds would maybe go for a club in a higher division but quite clearly something has caught is eye at the Welsh club.

Anyways, onto all the sport which is happening this weekend and let's see if I can better last week's predictions!

We'll start with rugby league again and on Thursday night the Wigan Warriors take on Hull FC in the first play-off semi-final match.

Hull were impressive against Warrington last week but they would have produce a similar performance to compete with Wigan who have been on flying form this season.

Sean O'Loughlin announced that he would retiring at the end of the season after 19 years with his hometown club and will be looking to go out on a high with one more trophy.

In the other game on Friday night St Helens take on the Catalan Dragons who managed to beat Challenge Cup holders Leeds Rhinos ahead of this game.

St Helens have also been in fine form this season but they will have to put in a good performance if they want to progress to the final for the second year running because Catalans have been a dangerous side all season.

So I feel as though we could see a St Helens vs Wigan final but it wouldn't surprise me either if one of those teams weren't there after last week's displays.

Football sees the Premier League return with the big game being between Liverpool and Leicester on Sunday night.

Liverpool are currently going through an injury crisis and Leicester have been playing well so it could be a great match up between the two.

Other highlights could come from Tottenham who host Manchester City on Saturday in what could be a lively encounter at the top end of the table.

My local team Barrow AFC play at home against Forest Green Rovers, as the 'Bluebirds' play three home games in six days in a hectic fixture schedule.

Their FA Cup tie against AFC Wimbledon was postponed a few week back after the visitors returned positive Covid tests meaning the game now takes place midweek on the 24th November in between two league fixtures for Barrow.

In horse racing the feature racing comes at Haydock Park in the Betfair Chase where the line-up features Bristol De Mai, Clan Des Obeaux and Lostintranslation in what looks to be a superb contest and could be one of the highlights of this season on Saturday.

And finally, the Darts Grand Prix at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry will reach it's conclusion on next Tuesday with Michael Van Gerwen bidding for yet another title to add to his name.
