Cheltenham Festival Day One Review - Sweet as honey for Blackmore.

Updated: Oct 28, 2022

Honeysuckle cruises up on the bridle around the turn into the straight, tanking along under Rachel Blackmore and blows the Champion Hurdle field away.

They were my thoughts when watching the final stages of the big race, and just how impressive was she?

Goshen was at times a very difficult steering job for Jamie Moore, and Epatante stayed on well, but made too many mistakes to even get remotely close to Honeysuckle.

Day one started off with my selection Appreciate It laughing at his rivals in the Supreme, he'll be a short price for the Arkle next year already and rightly so after that performance.

Onto the Arkle next and Captain Guinness and Allmankind set the race up perfectly for Shishkin who stormed to a perfect victory.

One for the Team left it too late in the next as Vintage Clouds gave Ryan Mania another massive career success and then Honeysuckle was simply magic in the Champion Hurdle.

Black Tears ran down Concertista in a brilliant finish before Jeff Kidder took the Boodles at 80/1!

The last race of the day was won by Galvin and I would say it was a good first day of racing for my selections with 3 winners of the board and One for the Team and Roksana both running into the places, lets hope tomorrow is even better!
