Burrows Babblings Part 18 - What's coming up for this blog page in the upcoming weeks

Updated: Feb 1, 2023

We've had a break, we've got our breath back, and we're all set to go and do it all over again, this time though it's the last one, my third and final year at university has begun.

A strange feeling really knowing that the last two years seem to have flown by so quickly with so many different memories and adventures taking place along the way, and we are here at this point already.

With all that in mind, we need something to keep us going in the winter months and keep you interested with all this action that's soon going to be taking place.

So it's time to kick things back into life around here and provide you with some content over the upcoming months.

There's plenty of sport to look forward to including two, yes you heard that right, two World Cups, one in Rugby League and the other in Football.

The Rugby League one is being held in this country again after it was supposed to have been played last year, but coronavirus forced it to be pushed back to this later date.

That kicks off first on October 15th, when England take on Samoa at St James' Park in Newcastle, and it will be interesting to see how England get on under new coach Shaun Wane.

England football will make their way over to Quatar for their World Cup campaign, and Gareth Southgate's men will be looking to put their Euro 2020 Final heartbreak behind them and follow in the footsteps of the ground breaking and history making women's side who did bring football back home.

July 31st 2022 will now always be a day that will never be forgotten in not just the country's football history, but the country's history in general.

Now some would say that I've only came back because the jumps season is right around the corner to kicking off properly, to that I say it's technically true in a way because I will have my usual series which has run for the past 2 years, where I tell you some horses that I'll be keeping an eye out for, as well as some jockeys and trainers who could be useful to follow.

Brian Hughes is a man who has been in top form again through the summer and he's already taken a huge leap towards wrapping up another jockey's championship, but Sean Bowen, who has been announced as Olly Murphy's leading jockey for the winter season ahead, has also been riding out of his skin and it'll be interesting to see just how many winners he can rack up overall this year.

Charlie Hall day at Wetherby is always a superb meeting early on in the winter, and I have to say I think it has to be up there with one of my favourite jumps tracks I've ever visited.

We have plenty of nice horses to look forward to, especially some that could be going over a fence for the first time, but I'll leave all of that for my piece on it, I wouldn't want to spoil it now for anyone would I?

There's been plenty of superb flat action through the summer though, and I've really enjoyed sitting back and watching some fantastic performances.

Ascot and York were both brilliant, and even now through the winter months we still have the all-weather to keep us going which is great to watch on an evening.

We'll also be keeping tabs on Fylde Rugby Union and seeing how they get on in their season, as they look to fight it out for promotion again and go one better this time around.

Two wins from two so far over Chester and Preston Grasshoppers has seen them pick up maximum points and sit 2nd in the table, with a home game against Harrogate this Saturday on the cards as they look to keep their perfect early start going.

A brief round-up I know, but we have so much more to get on with don't we? I'll catch you in the next piece shall I?
